Pastor Lauries Blog
In This Blog I endeaver to share the nuggets OF WISDOM I have received from time spent communing with the lord
Matthew 22: 36 - 40
"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" Vs 37. Jesus said to him, "You shall love The Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, (or strength). Vs 38. "This is the first and great commandment. Vs. 39. "And the second is like it : "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Vs. 40. "On these two hang all the Law and the Prophets."
We all know that God has an order to everything He has created. He has set seasons and times according to His patterns. Everything in creation was patterned after the priorities of sequence that was most highly valued by Him. Many have called it "the law of first mention." Watch what God does first or says first and that becomes a DNA pattern throughout the Bible.
When our priorities are aligned correctly with God's priorities, we have peace in our lives. We may have opposition on the outside, but when we are governing our lives according to the graces put within us, as well as His healthy priorities being enforced, nothing can stop our growth or forward advancement in life!
It is very important to note in the scripture above, that Jesus prescribes a priority of first and second in what is the "great commandment " of love established by God. Many of us in this fast paced culture do not take the time to establish healthy priorities in our lives, but by default allow everything around us to dictate what comes first and second! When this happens, a door is open to the enemy to bring chaos into our lives.
What is a priority and why is it so important? -
A priority is a precedence, especially by order of importance. Something deserving prior attention. It is a boundary defining the order of importance. A boundary is something that defines a border or limit. One of the first things God did in the beginning was establish a boundary for mankind.
Gen. 2: 16 - " of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; vs 17 "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."
Satan came immediately to discredit The Lord's purpose for mankind's boundary. Healthy priorities and boundaries actually keep the enemy out of our lives. God's priorities and boundaries are actually a wall of protection for us and they are meant to be a limit to the enemy! Satan twisted and distorted the character of God, and redefined those boundaries to be a limit to mankind!
The Lord unveiled these truths to me at a difficult time in our ministry. In the beginning of ministry there was a supernatural grace and flow of the Holy Spirit, as we focused on the vision to Worship The Lord, and teach others how to as well. The focus was "ministering to The Lord," first and foremost, and then ministering to the people. Very slowly and subtly the order and focus began to shift. Ministering to and focusing on meeting the needs of the people began to supersede loving God first. It was hard to detect at first because ministering to God's people is good, and it's what we are called to do.
Satan's game plan-
God does not want us ignorant of Satan's devices. If he can't get us sinning, he endeavors to get us out of order! A good thing in a wrong place and time can be destructive! Why? Because God blesses along lines of authority, and lines of priority! When our lives get out of order, it not only shuts the door to the blessings of God, but opens the door for the enemy to confuse and manipulate. Satan has no right to touch God's blood bought children, unless they knowingly or unknowingly open a door to him. Staying within our grace place is a boundary that keeps the door shut to the enemy. Staying within our calling, and the priorities established for marriage and family, all keep the enemy out.
After seeking The Lord as to why it seemed the anointing was receding in our ministry, the answer was simple but profound. We had inverted God's priority of loving Him first, and people second. With this inversion came an open door for many to come through our doors with less than pure motives for God and our calling as a church! It also went undetected, because we were doing "good things" for the community in the name of God? Many a good ministry has bitten this bait of Satan, which is cloaked in scripture and great intentions, only to find themselves on an ash heap down the road!
Thankfully, if we ask God for wisdom, He always gives it to us liberally. We, however, need to be brave enough to hear His truth, and submit to His correction. God never condemns our lack of knowledge. He is ever ready to give us whatever we need when things are just not clear! We just have to ask, and ask in faith knowing He always answers us! We then need patience in waiting for God's timing in bringing the answer from heaven, into the realm of time on earth!
When we stay close to the heart beat of God by putting intimacy with Him first place, He will keep us from stepping on the unseen land mines of the enemy!
Nugget from The Lord - An inverted priority, is a perverted (twisted) priority!
Acts 27:10 "Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives."
Vs. 22 - "And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. Vs. 23 "For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, vs. 24 "saying, Do not be afraid Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you."
Paul had a perception in his spirit about what was about to take place on his voyage. He trained his human spirit to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit through praying much in tongues, and meditating on the spirit anointed Word of God! (Which comes by revelation)
The amazing thing about this journey through a ferocious Nor' Easter that lasted over 14 days (vs. 27), was that because of Paul's prayers and relationship with God, everyone around him received the blessing of his protection!
Don't ever under estimate the blessing of our covenant with God in spilling over to our friends and family, even if, like the men on Paul's boat, they don't know The Lord for themselves.
In order for this blessing to be transmitted, it required Paul to respond, in prayer, to the perceptions he was receiving in his spirit.
On Thursday, September 16, 2010, I had an experience similar to that of Paul's! I was working at our church office when I noticed in my spirit an unction to pray. At first I brushed it off because my mind was focused on finishing the work at hand. It came back a second time, and having this happen many times before, knew that the natural realm must take a back seat! In this day that we're living in, it is imperative to put the Kingdom of God first place in our lives.
I proceeded to pray in the Spirit (tongues) and asked The Lord what was up? No response, just a stronger urgency to pray? As I continued, the Holy Spirit began joining in with me to the point where there was a sense of vehement militance against an unseen enemy, lurking in the shadows! Out of my mouth I began to proclaim, very loudly, that the destroyer will not cross the blood line, or touch God's anointed ones! I took my authority over the spirit of death. I knew by what came out of my spirit, that someone's life was in danger? But who? Two hours later, I received my answer.
After the urgency to pray lifted, I finished my work and went home. Noticing the thickening dark clouds congregating on the horizon, I checked the weather on TV? A very unusual storm, which wasn't forecasted, was bearing down on Brooklyn and Queens New York. The significance of these areas to me was the fact that my son David lived in Brooklyn and my other son John lived with his wife Vanessa in Queens!
The Storm - It was confirmed that a rare F.O tornado touched down in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Also an F.1 tornado along with a micro burst with winds of 125 mph hit in Bayside Queens, where my family lived. A Micro burst, is violent winds coming straight down onto land. These are the type of winds that have brought down airplanes.
The Miracle - My son John and his wife Vanessa were going out to dinner when the storm unexpectedly hit them. They were driving in their small car, when suddenly the sky turned black. Violent lightening and wind were hitting everywhere! My son's curiosity caused him to stop and watch what he called, "a war zone!" He never saw anything like this? (And he went to School in Oklahoma!) All of a sudden the micro burst hit, along with lightening and a thunderbolt, which Vanessa felt go through her body! (The car grounded them from the lightening) After the blinding lightening stopped, John and Vanessa were awestruck with the devastation all around them! The straight line winds brought down trees and littered the streets all around them. John realized their lives were just spared! A huge tree fell directly in front of their car, and directly behind their car! Had he not stopped at the "moment of his curiosity," they could have been crushed! A woman the next street over was crushed and died because of falling trees!
I am so grateful that even though this storm was a surprise attack to many in the city, it wasn't a surprise to The Lord! If we listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, He will lead us into all truth, and show us things to come! It's important to stay alert and respond to those promptings to pray! It will save lives!
Nugget from The Lord - " I will alert you to that which concerns you."
In addition to the written blogs, there will also be lessons taken from Church Services, or just audio blogs added from time to time. These will be called "Life Lessons With Laurie". It is in my heart to share with others what I have "seen and heard" directly from the Holy Spirit, in line with the Word of God.
Acts 22: 14 - 15- " The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, (Jesus) and hear the voice of His mouth.
Vs. 15 - "For you will be His witness to all men (mankind) of what you have SEEN AND HEARD.
Three major lessons in this one scripture that require intimacy with the Lord.
I just want to say thank you for everyone's positive feedback. I'm glad the lessons and stories are a blessing. That is the purpose of this blog.
